Over the past 400 years, we have all fought together and won many of the freedoms and equalities that we had long been denied. We have made it through slavery, black codes, Jim Crow laws and political and economic hardship, but the times ahead are just as critical as the decades past. It is now time for a new beginning; it is a time for community building and nation building. It is now time for us to take our rightful place as partners in the development and future development of the nation that we all love so dearly. We must now empower ourselves by making a commitment to the betterment of our communities, schools and businesses.
